Anantnag Police, in coordination with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), successfully rescued a group of nomads stranded at Lidder Nala. The rescue operation was initiated after Police Station Mattan received a distress call. A joint rescue team from Police Station Mattan and SDRF Anantnag was immediately dispatched to Pethnambal. Despite facing challenging conditions, including darkness and heavy water flow, the team temporarily halted the operation overnight. At dawn, the rescue efforts resumed with renewed determination.

On the directions of SSP Ramban Sh.Anuj Kumar-IPS, Ramban Police acting on specific information about the transportation of bovine animals, various Police teams from Police Ststion Banihal, Batote, Gool and Police Station Ramsoo, intercepted four vehicles and individuals transporting bovines towards Kashmir. Upon inspection, it was found that 89 bovine animals were loaded in the 04 vehicles and subjected to cruelty without provisions for food and water. This property belonged to the notorious drug dealer Shamas Din, alias Bacchu, son of Maskeen Ali, hailing from Rakh Barotian tehsil Vijaypur in district Samba.

Police initiated the action under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg, DySP Hqrs Baramulla & SDPO Kreeri assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg, SHO PS Kunzer, SHO PS Baramulla & IC PP Wagoora. Police seized 02 Tractors, 05 Tippers & arrested 6 drivers identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Ahad resident of Chanpora Wagoora, Mohd Iqbal Shah son of Abdul Hameed, Mohd Rafiq Shah son of Mohd Akram, both residents of Takiya Gonipora, Asif Ahmad Tantray son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Zoogiyar, Tariq Ahmad Dar son of Gh Mohd resident of Jalsheeri & Mohd Rafiq Khan son of Gh Mohd Khan resident of Kanispora. One of the drivers of the seized tractor at Ferozpora Tangmarg managed to flee from the spot and efforts are on to nab him. The drivers alongwith their vehicles were found involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals and accordingly cases under relevant sections of law were registered in Police Station Tangmarg, Kunzer, Baramulla & Kreeri and investigations have been taken up.
District Police Samba has reunited a missing person with his family whose missing report was lodged at Police Post Supwal falling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba. On 15.01.2024, a written report was lodged at Police Post Supwal by one Surjeet Kour w/o Bhupinder Singh R/o Nai Basti (Tanda) tehsil and district Samba stating therein that her husband namely Bhupinder Singh, age 40 yrs, S/o Tara Singh R/o Nai Basti (Tanda) tehsil and district Samba went missing from home since 11.11.2023. All efforts were made out by the family members to trace out him but the whereabouts of the missing could not be ascertained. On this, a missing report vide DDR No. 16 dated 15.01.2024 was entered at Police Post Supwal and search started to trace out the said missing person. With continuous strenuous effort, the missing person has been traced out from Bari Brahmana and has been handed over to his family after completing all the legal formalities. Accordingly, the said missing report has been closed. The family members expressed their gratitude towards Samba Police for their arduous effort in tracing out the missing member of the family.

&K Police committed in addressing public concerns and issues: DGP Shri R.R Swain Says situation under control with business activities thriving, education and other development activities normal Srinagar, January 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police is very serious in its commitment in addressing the wide range of concerns and problems of citizens related to police services. One more Notorious Drug Peddler arrested in the Jurisdiction of PS Ganderbal & Psychotropic Substance recovered & Seized. Ganderbal Police is making consistent efforts to eradicate the drug menace from the society by way of enforcement operations. Today, Police Station Ganderbal received information through reliable sources that one person namely Sajad Ahmad Sofi S/O Ghulam Hassan Sofi R/O Saloora Ganderbal is carrying contraband substance in his truck bearing Registration No.JK03H-8638. Acting Swiftly on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, a special Police team was constituted under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqr's Ganderbal Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS, led by SHO PS Ganderbal intercepted the said truck near new Bus Stand Beehama. During search, 16 Bottles of Codeine Phosphate recovered & seized in presence of Executive Magistrate First Class. The accused was arrested & the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized on the spot. In this regard, Case FIR No. 14/2024, under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Ganderbal & further investigation has been taken up. Ganderbal Police is committed to eradicate the drug menace from district. General public is requested to come forward and share information of drug peddlers in the area so that the youth is saved from the dreadful effects of drugs.
A complaint was received at Police station Gool from one person namely Mohd Ishaq employee Savronik company Sangaldan regarding theft of earthing almunium Copper coated wire laid on Railway track between Sangaldan and Dharam Railway, Ramban amounting to Rs 50 to 60 thousand approx. On the basis of complainant a case FIR No. 01/2024 U/S 379 IPC dt .06.1.2024 was registered at Police Station Gool and investigation was set into motion. A special team was constituted by SSP Ramban Ms.Mohita Sharma-IPS , to trace out the theft and to recover the stolen material .During the course of investigation several suspects were rounded up and after strenuous efforts, the police was able to apprehend one person identified as Altaf Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid R/o Salbala Gool,Tehsil Gool, District Ramban and on his disclosure stolen wire was recovered. The accused person named above disclosed the name of two more suspects namely Irfan Ahmed son of Ghulam Nabi and Tariq Ahmed son of Mohd Sadiq both resident of Sangaldan for their involvement in the commission of offence in the instant case. The arrest and recovery was effected by police team of PS Gool under overall supervision of SSP Ramban.
Continuing special drive against the bovine smuggler Reasi police foiled bovine smuggling at Dera Baba. During Naka checking at Dera Baba, two vehicles bearing registration no. JK02CS-9920 driven by driver namely Rafaqit Ali S/O Mohd Shafi R/O Chapped Tehsil Dansal & District Jammu alongwith Manzoor Hussain S/O Taj Din R/O Keri Parthal Tehsil Katra District Reasi was intercepted for checking and found 01 bovine animal and JK20B-3706 driven by driver namely Mohd Zabir S/O Abdul Husain R/O Thuroo Tehsil Thuroo District Reasi was intercepted for checking and found 02 bovine animals, which were being transported illegally without DM permission.
Police team of District Rajouri nabs an absconder in outskirts of Jammu city, who was wanted in a case but was evading his arrest since 2015. Absconder has been identified as Sunil Kumar S/O Munshi Ram R/O Malikpura, Tehsil- RS Pura & District Jammu. Police team of PS Nowshera of District Rajouri led by SHO Nowshera zeroed in the arrested accused absconder in outskirts of Jammu city on the basis of a human intelligence. The accused was evading his arrest since long in case FIR No.129/2013 U/S 279/337/338 RPC of PS Nowshera and a general warrant U/s 299 Cr.PC was issued against him by the Hon'ble Court of JMIC Nowshera. After apprehension, the arrested accused person shall further be produced before the Hon’ble Court of Law.
Samba Police has arrested three (03) criminals involved in attempt to murder case near 17 miles, seized weapons of offence and bike used while committing crime. The arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Kumar s/o Romesh Chand r/o Pekhri tehsil Vijaypur district Samba, Sourav Slathia alias Koushal Slathia s/o Ghar Singh r/o Gurah Slathia Vijaypur and Vishal Singh s/o Suram Singh r/o Khaderghal tehsil Bari Brahmana district Samba. Police has also seized a bike bearing No. JK21H-3360 belonging to accused Rahul Kumar which was used during commission of crime and also seized two weapons of offence which included one ‘Toka’ & one ‘Darat’ in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class on the disclosure of the arrested accused. On 30.12.2023, one Devinder Singh resident of Pekhri, Vijaypur was attacked with sharp-edged weapons near 17 Miles, Vijaypur in district Samba. Police registered attempt to murder case FIR No. 191/2023 u/s 307, 323, 341, 34 IPC, 4/25 Arms Act at Police Station Vijaypur and started investigation. Police have arrested all the accused who were involved in the murderous attack, seized weapons of offence and the bike used for the commission of offence.

In statement issued by Doda Police it was told that Doda Police has arrested one online fraudster from Ajmer Rajasthan who was wanted in case FIR No. 237/2023 registered against him at Police Station Doda for online cheating an amount of Rs, 11,67,220/- from a Govt. Teacher of Kastigarh Doda. Giving details Doda Police said that on 29.10.2023, one Showket Ali who is a Govt. teacher and resident of Bibrota tehsil Kastigarh lodged a written complaint at Police Station Doda mentioning therein that he came in contact with one Shahrukh Noor Mohd son of Noor Mohd resident of Jhunjhun Rajasthan through Facebook who cheated the complainant and looted online an amount Rs, 11,67,220/- from him. In this connection case FIR No. FIR No. 237/2023 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Doda. During the course of investigation, Police activated the sources to apprehend the online fraudster and on the basis of human / technical lead, a Police party led by SI Mohd Shafi under the supervision of Shri Jaswant Singh, Dy.SP Hqrs Doda was deputed to Ajmer and the Police party arrested the fraudster from Ajmer Rajasthan. Further investigation of the case is going on.

The most wanted and notorious drug smuggler Mohammad Amin Bhat @Umer Bhat Son of Reyaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Kralgund have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smuggler have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu. Pertinent to mention that case FIR NOs.(1).17/22 U/S 8/21 NDPS ACT (2).30/23 U/S 8/20 NDPS ACT (3).49/23 U/S 8/20 NDPS ACT stands registered against the drug smuggler and was found involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Kralgund & other areas of PD. Despite his involvement in many FIR's he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth. General public of Handwara appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. Handwara Police consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that Handwara police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers including lady drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession. A police party of Police Station Sheeri headed by SHO PS Sheeri under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kitchama near service station, intercepted 03 persons including a lady who were coming towards Kitchama on a scooty bearing registration number JK05-0116. During search, 776 grams of Heroin like contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Hassan and Shokeen Ahmad Ganie son of Ab Jabar Ganie both residents of Batangi Boniyar & Saleema Begum wife of Mohd Ashraf Najar resident of Mirher Sheeri. They have been arrested and shifted to PS where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in commission of crime has been seized. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sheeri and investigation has been initiated.
On 29/11/2023 at around 1315 hrs One Parhald singh informed through PCR that his son Raghav Jamwal @ raghu R/O Nardani Raipur Bantalab aged around 19, has been Kidnapped by unknown person. Above mentioned Raghav went to Janipur for computer training,but didn't reach there. On this immediately Police parties from PP Chinore and PS Domana were fanned out in the area and came to know that Raghav has not come to the Computer training centre at Janipur. FIR no 355/2023 u/s 363 was registered in concerned police station and SP Rural and SDPO Domana were directed to personally supervise the search conducted by police parties. Police through human and technical intelligence was able to zero in on the kidnapper. After hectic efforts, the kidnapper was traced out from his rented accommodation at Patoli during the intervening night and mobile phone of the victim was recovered from his possession which he has been using to make ransom calls. The accused is identified as Satinder Kumar S/o Chunni Lal Age-23 years R/o Main Bazar Kishtwar
November 30: On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, police organized Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with District Hospital Ganderbal at District Police Lines Ganderbal. The Blood Donation Camp was organised under the supervision of DySP DAR Shri Nazir Ahmad in which Police officers, officials & SPOs participated with great enthusiasm & donated blood. Medical Superintendent District Hospital Ganderbal Dr. Nighat Yasmeen deputed the panel of Doctors & Nurses to DPL Ganderbal & appreciated the efforts of Police for their contribution, donating blood for the noble cause. A case FIR No 262/2023 U/s 7/25 Arms Act and 3/4 Explosive Substance Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation set into motion.
November 25: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession. A police party of Police Post Mirgund headed by Incharge Police Post Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Kripalgarh Singhpora intercepted a person identified as Adil Manzoor Sheikh son of Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh resident of Iqbal Colony Singhpora Pattan. During search, 110 grams of contraband Charas Powder like substance was recovered from his possession. He had been arrested and shifted to Police Station Pattan where he remains in custody.
Ramban 24 November: SSP Ramban Ms Mohita Sharma IPS* constituted special police teams to arrest the abconders who are evading arrest and against whom General Warrants of Arrest have been issued by the Hon'ble Court. The police party of Police Station Ramban under the guidance of by SHO PS Ramban Inspector Nayeem Mattoo apprehended an absconder namely Afzal Ahmed son of Iftikar Ahmed Khatana resident Jasrota,District Kathua wanted in case FIR No.105/2022 and 106/2022 both U/s 188 RPC and 11 PC Act of Police Station Ramban. Two Warrant of arrest were issued by the Hon'ble Court U/s 299 Cr.PC against the above named accused person. The above named absconder was arrested by Police team of PS Ramban and produced him before the Hon'ble court of law under the supervision Shri Om Parkash Dysp HQRS Ramban,Shri Gaurav Mahajan JKPS Adl.SP Ramban and under overall supervision of SSP Ramban Ms Mohita Sharma IPS.
November 24:`Police in Ganderbal under the Civic Action Program organised drug awareness Seminar/Programme at Sainik School Manasbal. The seminar/programme was organised on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS. On the occasion, doctors, teachers, students & other dignitaries participated with huge enthusiasm & zest in the seminar which was organised under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan-JKPS. While speaking on the onset of the seminar, DySP Hqrs Ganderbal delivered inaugural lecture in which he touched various aspects of drug addiction & its causes. He encouraged the participants to refrain from this severe menace & stated that Police is always on toes to eradicate drug menace from the society & ready to help the youth in fighting this serious issue.
November 23: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a notorious drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession. A police party of Police Post Mirbazar headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Alstop Chowk intercepted a vehicle (Alto Car) bearing Registration No. JK13H-0311 driven by Safeer Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Rasool Dar resident of Turka Tachloo, Anantnag. During search, 5.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in a nylon bag was recovered. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in commission of crime has been seized.
In a relentless effort to curb the menace of drug peddling, Handwara Police continued its proactive actions against offenders. Today on the second day, Police in Handwara attached Property land measuring 07 Marlas belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Fayaz Ahmad Malla Son of Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Malla resident of Muqam Himwanpora Kralgund under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985. The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police Handwara. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner. Pertinently the said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR numbers 67/2020 and 73/2022 of PS Kralgund. The notorious drug peddler is currently detained under PIT-NDPS Act and lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu.

He was involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to youth of various areas at Srinagar. Despite his involvement in many cases, he did not mend his activities and remained promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth especially school going children. Police in Srinagar have arrested two terrorist associates of the proscribed terror outfit LeT along NHW Bypass. Srinagar Police on Tuesday received information about the movement of suspected terrorists along NHW Bypass. Upon this information, a joint team of Srinagar Police and QRT of CRPF set up a strong checkpoint near Sham Lal Petrol Pump, N R Colony at NHW Bypass. During naka checking, a white-coloured Santro car bearing registration number JK09A-2788 coming from Parimpora and headed towards Tengpora tried to flee from the spot upon seeing the police party at the checkpoint. However, they were apprehended tactfully. During search, two terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit LeT, identified as Mumtaz Ahmad Lone son of Gh Qadir Lone resident of Trehgam Kupwara and Jahangir Ahmad Lone son of Gh Mohidin Lone resident of Trehgam Kupwara were arrested and a huge cache of arms and ammunition including 02 Pistols, 04 magazines, 02 filler magazines and 08 grenades were recovered from their possession.
In an ongoing effort to combat the growing issue of drug abuse among the youth, Police in Handwara organized an enlightening awareness programme for general public including Students, Techers etc at Green Peace School. The event aimed to educate public & students about the dangers of drug abuse, prevention strategies and appropriate responses in case of encountering drug-related situations. Tehsildar Qaiziabad, SHO PS Kralgund and Doctors from CHC Kralgund delivered engaging lectures to the participants empowering them with essential knowledge to recognize the symptoms of drug abuse and offering guidance on appropriate initial responses.
